79. Attachment Becomes an Obstruction
Question: The purpose of Buddhist practice is liberation—that is, to remove the “obstructions” that hinder liberation. But where are these obstructions? How do they become obstructions?
Answer: Obstructions are in the mind, because of attachment.
80. Mind Is the Pure Land, and the Pure Land Is Mind: How Is This to Be Understood?
Answer: Of the four—faith, understanding, practice, and realization—if faith is lacking at the outset, understanding can only be misunderstanding. If practice and realization are lacking later on, then even if one does not misunderstand, what use is it?
