Yin Xin is a Chinese artist whose paintings feature a blend of modernity and ancient traditions, folk art, old masters, and Chinese and European influences. In China, Yin Xin assimilated the ancient figurative arts culture of his homeland and then put his skills to the rest with the political posters of the Cultural Revolution. But then, in 1988, he started to travel : first to Australia and finally to Europe, to Paris, which has become his second homeland for the past eight years.

His paintings reflect his wandering : they are nomadic, European but at the same time Chinese. The collection depicts life in the post-communist revolution days. Some of his paintings are representative of China crossing two worlds, and there is nostalgia for the glorious past when China had a close relationship with the west. These are juxtaposed with paintings of political dialogue, which depict groups of leaders and revolutionary characters.

Yin Xin has the talent to convey mood and atmosphere in his paintings : the elegance, the heavy texture, the dark palette work together in such a way that the viewer feels like they are looking at an old family photo album - kindling fond memories of the past whilst becoming reacquainted with the heroes of long ago.
